Lord of the Rings Halloween Costume Ideas

5 Ideas For A Lord of the Rings Themed Halloween Costume

Although the Lord of the Rings movie series was released a while ago now, this is always an exciting and fun costume theme for Halloween. And, with the release of the Hobbit just around the corner, you may just have a renewed interest in these characters.

There are plenty of unique characters to choose from in Lord of the Rings. All of the costume ideas below are available in the form of an officially licensed costume (if you don’t want to make your own).

If you’d like to choose this strong warrior and eventual king as your Halloween alter ego then there are a few key elements to the costume. To start with, you need a long brown wig, maybe even a little dark makeup for that rugged look of a warrior who doesn’t have time to watch his personal appearance. The outfit itself is quite simple – a tunic with armor underneath, topped off with black gloves and a sword.

Legolas is an Elf and a member of the Fellowship of the Ring. His most distinctive feature is his long blonde hair, tied half back. This means a wig is essential for anyone who wants to dress as this courageous character. Aside from this you’ll want to get hold of a tunic, cloak and bow and arrow accessory.

The Witch King

Although the Witch King may not feature in the movies for long, nobody can forget his distinctive look. His unforgettable helmet is available to buy as an officially licensed costume accessory. It’s such high quality that it looks just like the one from the film. To complete the look, you’ll need plenty of black armor.

Arwen was Aragorn’s Elven lover and, later, wife. Any Arwen outfit is going to need to include long flowing dresses with bell sleeves. Velvet fabrics in dark colors would be most recognizable for this character, but you can choose any medieval-style long dress if you want to. To top the outfit off, opt for celtic jewelery and those classic Elf ears.

The Gandalf costume is a really fun choice. As a wizard, he’s always wearing a cloak, whether this is gray or white. Use a rope to tie the cloak at the middle, get hold of your powerful staff, and make sure to top it off with an all-important grey wig and beard accessory!

The best thing about Lord of the Rings is that the choices are virtually endless. Aside from the options above, you may also choose to go as Gollum, a Hobbit, Saruman or the Nazgul.

Glee Halloween Costume Ideas

Glee Costume Ideas For Halloween

Glee is one of the most popular shows on television right now, and there are plenty of costume options for any Glee fan who wants to use this as a Halloween theme.

The cheerleader outfits from Glee are instantly recognizable, and there are more than a few characters to choose from.

The basic cheerleader outfit consists of the red and white uniform. You can buy officially licensed costumes that come ready with the WMHS stitched onto the front of the outfit, or you can put it together yourself with a more generic cheerleader outfit you’ve found in a store somewhere. To complete the look, add white sneakers and cheerleader pom poms.

Now it’s time to choose which specific character you want to be. If you want to go as airhead Brittany S. Pierce then make sure you get your hands on a blond wig, or a dark wig if you’d rather go as Santana Lopez. Another fun option is to stuff your outfit so it looks like you’re the pregnant head cheerleader Quinn Fabray.

Sue Sylvester

Just about everyone loves the character of Sue Sylvester, and it’s as much fun acting like her as it is to wear her clothes! She isn’t one to mess around and will do anything to win.

For this costume you’ll need the classic red tracksuit. Again this is available in an officially licensed costume, complete with the Glee logo and blonde wig, though it shouldn’t be too hard to make your own if you can find a tracksuit in the right color.

Glee Footballer Costume

The perfect match for the Glee cheerleader is the footballer – great as a couples costume or even if you’re going to a party alone. This costume consists of the red jacket bearing the important “M” logo. Again, buy the licensed costume to make things as easy as possible, and pair it with a mohawk wig to instantly transform yourself into Noah “Puck” Puckerman.

Other Glee Costume Ideas

Of course, you may want to go as a specific character, rather than simply a member of the football team or cheerleading squad. One choice would be Will Schuester – director of Glee club. To pull this off you’ll simply need a shirt, tie, vest and a curly blonde wig.

Or perhaps you’re a woman who’d like to go as Rachel? You’ll need a long brown wig and a “geek chic” outfit to match. This might mean knee-high socks, a skirt and a plaid jumper. You could even carry around a microphone with you to complete the look.

X Men First Class Halloween Costumes

X-Men First Class: A New Selection Of Halloween Costumes

Thanks to the release of the X-Men prequel – X-Men First Class – in 2011, there’s been a surge in the number of X-Men costumes available to buy from stores. If this is a theme you’re considering for your Halloween costume this year then here’s a guide to what’s available and how you might go about creating your own costumes.

Before you get started, note that you can choose from a few different character options for each character. The First Class movie introduced a new set of costumes, separate from the ones we’ve seen in the other X-Men movies. This article is going to focus on those newer costume themes, though you’ll also be able to find the classic options available as officially licensed costumes in stores.

In the X-Men First Class movie, Cyclops wears a skin tight body suit in the famous blue and yellow colors. And you wouldn’t be Cyclops if you didn’t have huge muscles bulging through your jumpsuit! If these muscles don’t come naturally to you, don’t worry! The officially licensed costumes come with muscle inserts to help you get the look just right. And don’t forget the visor accessory (this also comes with officially licensed costume packs).

The clothing Beast wears in the X-Men First Class movie also plays on the yellow and blue theme. He wears a skin tight jumpsuit featuring the yellow “X” marking across the front of the suit.

Beast also has plenty of muscles showing through his costume, so you’ll want to try and create the illusion of muscles using clever stuffing, or simply buy the officially licensed costume where the muscles are already built in. Complete the look with blue hands and the blue Beast mask.

If you’d rather bring out your dark side and go dressed as Magneto then the costume in the First Class Movie is different from the other versions. The helmet is still the most distinguishable feature, and is similar to past versions with its “M” shaping around the eyes and mouth.

The costume itself sticks to the classic deep red and purple coloring, but is a little more plain than before, with a long dark cape. This movie also sees Magneto wearing the classic “X-Men” yellow and blue style costume, so you have a lot of choice if you want to go dressed as this character this Halloween.
